Then it was on to the Northern California Specialty a wonderful 2-day event.

On Friday, October 20th the judges are Genelle Joseph, Sweepstakes, and Marissa O’Connor Specialty judge. Sweepstakes is always a fun event with many lovely pups full of energy first thing in the morning. Our Beau, Lynann’s Ace to Keep came home with Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes. What a thrilling win for any breeder. Thank you Genelle.

There are many wonderful boys lined up in each class with our Lynann’s Ace to Keep “Beau”, Lynann’s King of Hearts” Clark”, and Lynann’s Remington Bleu “Remy” in the 12-18 month class. The boys all showed their little tails off, with Lynann’s Ace to Keep winning and Remy and Clark placing behind him. What a thrill for any breeder to have their puppies shown and in wonderful condition.

Now it’s back in for winners, with many lovely dogs again in the winners line up. Ms. O’Connor moved each of her class winners again, and then asked us all to go around. Looking up to see what the judge was doing we saw the final nod coming to Beau. Yahooo!!! Best of Breed is in the ring and Beau is still showing his heart out.

Marissa’s top winners are Ch. Déjà vu Genuine Draft, Hendricks, Best of Breed, Lynann’s Ace to Keep, Best of Winners, and Dawnglow Legally Blonde, La Flamme, Best of Opposite Sex. We were ecstatic! Thank you Marissa!

Another beautiful day for the next Specialty, our judges are Lisa Ross, Sweepstakes, and Mary-Ann Alston, Specialty Judge.

Lisa examines each dog with a smile on her face, and a glint in her eye! The final line up is in the ring with our Lynann’s Ace to Keep going Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes again. We are thrilled beyond words.

The classes are being judged next with many wonderful English Cockers present. Our “Beau is again the class winner. We are beginning to wonder do we dare dream of going winners dog again? Could it happen? YES, the judge points to Beau again we are screaming inside, with this win Beau completes his AKC championship.

Back in for Best of Breed with the same dogs winning as the day before. Beau completes his title with two five (5) point Specialty Best of Winners. YEAH!

Congratulation to everyone, including Russ and Cindy Clanin owners of Clark, and James and Corey Williams owners of Remy. Congratulations to Jessica Mybeck owner of After Hours Shoot 'Em Up “Wyatt” on his reserve winner’s dog under Marissa O’Connor. Wyatt is by our Ch. Lynann’s Avant Garde and out of Ch. While I hesitate to post anything sad to my brags and news page I decided to tell this story in hopes that this might educate even one person, and save the life of some innocent, and exuberant puppy, or adult dog of any breed.

Many owners think it is safe to allow puppies, or adults to run off leash, or to go from home to car without any control by their owners. They do this because they think their dog is so well trained that the dog would never stray or chase another animal. English Cockers are sporting dogs and do have the instinct to chase or find game. No matter how well trained any dog is, it can, and will at sometime become distracted, and not listen to their master.

This is what happened recently to one of my puppies. His/her owners are sweet and loving, but naive people, and would have never intentionally put their dogs life in jeopardy. They did not have him/her on leash, and the dog did see a cat in the road. You can imagine the rest of the story.

As a breeder this is perhaps one of the worst calls I have ever received. The people were of course traumatized.

Please think before allowing your dog off leash.
